Your list inspires me. I've read some of the ones you rated and mostly agree. I'll have to set my own challenge to read the Hugos to see what's up with them! My works were compared to "The Left Hand of Darkness" once and I read that one just to see what the comparison might have been. LeGuin is a far better writer, but I did see some similarities in how we each approach the "taboo" of sexuality. I loved how she depicted a species that could alternate between male, neuter, and female at will and how she explored some of the implications of such a thing. I gave the book a 5-star as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rod! I read your Paradigm Lost trilogy last year. I bought them from you at Orycon a few years ago. I liked the whole trilogy, but found the final book to be the best. I still have the prequel to read. I do so many challenges and now I'm reading all the Hugo nominees so I can vote in good conscience, that my TBR pile is huge! :-D Thanks for commenting!
